Located in the heart of Rotorua city, plenty of seating and child friendly. They offer a massive range of gluten free meals, including lasagne, gourmet stuffed potatoes, slices, biscuits and muffins. Reasonably priced although was a bit dubious about the freshness of the food and the service was incredbily slow considering there were only 2 other customers. We are also sick of spending money trying expensive gluten free food that tastes terrible. So if it’s not delicious, we don’t sell it.

We have collected the most delicious gluten free recipes and ideas, and now you can fill your pantry and freezer with some of the most delicious GF food in New Zealand. We only sell products that we are proud to eat ourselves, or sell you products from other New Zealand suppliers that we love.

We would love your idea’s, feedback and suggestions so we can continue to develop and tailor our food to the gluten free needs of New Zealand.

All our products are hand made from scratch so expect slight variations in weight and appearance. No added preservatives and no artificial colouring.

Why Frozen?
For most people on gluten free diets the freezer is their best friend. Gluten free products don’t last as long as their wheat based counterparts, at least without a lot or preservatives and other nasties. The vast majority of our products have no preservatives and are therefore kept frozen so they stay fresh.

Because our products are frozen on the day of production they taste just as fresh when they are defrosted as the day they are made. One of our tricks is to pop frozen muffins and cakes into the kid’s lunchboxes so they are defrosted and fresh to eat by lunch time.

Other Allergens and Special Orders
Often other allergies and intolerances accompany a gluten free diet. All our products are wheat free and gluten free but we also stock vegetarian, dairy free, soy free, nut free, yeast free, sugar free and egg free. Look in the more info box in our shop items.

Fatima’s is a Turkish franchise which now does gluten free pita’s. When I queried the gluten free options, the staff were very knowledgeable about which items on the menu would be suited to my gluten free diet. Very exciting to have a pita/kebab - very good wrap and great fillings. Only an extra $2 for gluten free pita. They also state on their website that they no longer use peanuts in any of their cooking.

Wellington’s Restaurant & Bar here at Waipuna Hotel offers relaxed dining for up to 150 people, overlooking the picturesque Panmure Basin lagoon.

Wellington’s opens daily at 6:30am offering buffet style and a la carte meals throughout the day. Snack options are available between the main service times.

Come and dance the night away at our Saturday Dine & Dance, with resident band, Tall Order or join us on Sunday evenings and bring the kids for a night of fun & surprises with award winning magician, Alan Watson!

In-house catering for individual function rooms is also available.

Wellington’s adjoining bar offers a pleasant and relaxing environment with a cozy lounge area and large balconies taking full advantage of the lagoon views.

At Baobab Cafe our main focus is keeping our menus seasonal. By doing this we are able to support the local New Zealand farmers and aviod importing many products.  Our menus do change often so please check out our website for our current menus that include many gluten free options.  We also are open and willing to change dishes to be gluten free if possible.  For example we make our own Rosemary and Garlic Potato Rositi’s and use those as a subsitute for our Eggs on Toast.  We use gluten free pasta, and Island Bay Butchery’s gluten free sausages.  Our Gluten Free Brownies and Gluten Free Macaroons are very popular and usually available on the counter…if they haven’t all been sold out!!
