Spudbar was founded in Melbourne in 2000, born out of inspiration by the lack of healthy, beautiful tasting food that was quick, convenient and value for money. Our founder, Clay Thompson and his wife Laura longed for a food outlet that provided nutritious, inexpensive fast food. When nothing could be found the only option available was to create a food concept themselves. Hence the idea for Spudbar!
The Spudbar philosophy is simple. They will never take shortcuts on the quality, freshness and nutritional value of the food they serve you. They are passionate about the future of our planet and the people in it and want to make a difference. Whilst they can’t change the world over night, by providing an honest approach to healthy, convenient food that tastes delicious, they hope to be part of the solution.
They have 2 great Christchurch stores in Northlands Mall and Palms Shopping Centre (foodcourts). Their staff can guide customers to ensure they order gluten free toppings as they have a list of 30 available. See their website for more details and menu options.

Located in the heart of Rotorua city, plenty of seating and child friendly. They offer a massive range of gluten free meals, including lasagne, gourmet stuffed potatoes, slices, biscuits and muffins. Reasonably priced although was a bit dubious about the freshness of the food and the service was incredbily slow considering there were only 2 other customers. Open Mon 7:30am - 4:30pm, Tue - Fri 7:30am - 5:00pm, Sat - Sun 7:30am - 5:30pm

Knuckle Sandwich ›

  • 280 Queen St
    Auckland Central

Knuckle Sandwich is a eatery in Auckland city which is a similar concept to Subway - yet they make gluten free sandwiches. The bread is your regular gluten free bread like you buy at the super market. They make huge sandwiches (3 slices of bread) and you choose the fillings, salad and sauces - I asked for mine to be toasted (as most gluten free bread needs to) I recommended this. Very exciting to find a good lunch option on Queen St, as I often find this a difficult task.

Fatima’s is a Turkish franchise which now does gluten free pita’s. When I queried the gluten free options, the staff were very knowledgeable about which items on the menu would be suited to my gluten free diet. Very exciting to have a pita/kebab - very good wrap and great fillings. Only an extra $2 for gluten free pita. They also state on their website that they no longer use peanuts in any of their cooking.

The Cornershop Bistro - Sumner - Christchurch ›

(Corner Nayland St and Wakefield Ave)

The Cornershop Bistro is situated in the beachside suburb of Sumner and is open Wednesday to Sunday for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Our menus offer modern Bistro fare with a European slant, Terrines, Coq au Vin, Benedict, French Toast and fresh wonderful salads.
A great portion of the menus are available Gluten Free. Because we source the freshest and highest quality produce, more than half of the dinner and lunch menus provide gluten free options.
We bake all our counterfoods and desserts on site with many GF options and our own GF bread available for the breakfasts. Our fudge brownie and friands are delicious!
We understand the demands of the Gluten Free dining, as we have a child who can not tolerate any gluten. This has educated us and therefore our staff on how to best provide for this dietary requirement.
