This place has a massive number of gluten free options including pies, cakes, filled rolls, salads etc etc.  The owners also are friendly and willing to help introduce to their selection.  They have taken a lot of care to get it right (you need to let them know in advance for hot items and perhaps salads)

I was delighted to see that Muffin Break (which is in many malls) offers two types of gluten free muffins (flavours change daily). This is great to know when you are caught out and about and find yourself hungry and wanting something to keep you going.

They have a large selection of Gluten Free items on the menu - especially under the stone grill section.  You can ask for a Gluten free menu to help with the selection & the staff were very helpful with queries.

They also had a great Pav desert!!

Worth a visit!!

The Museum Café, Dunedin ›

  • Otago Museum
    419 Great King Street
    Dunedin

A stroll through the 100-year-old trees of the Otago Museum Reserve leads you to the Museum Café, situated within the Museum itself. Calm, spacious and furnished with rimu café chairs and tables to accommodate 90 people, the Museum Café attracts a diverse range of customers, from Museum visitors to University of Otago faculty and students.  They offer a great variety of healthy filled breads; smoked salmon, horseradish & caper salad bagels, brie & asparagus aoili salad knots, local farmhouse cheese, homemade relish, sun dried tomato, artichoke & pesto salad… just to name a few. Their Gluten Free Chocolate chip cookies are only $1.20, and apparently pretty yummy! The Museum Café scores extra points for having gluten-free bread available as well: if you’re ordering soup just ask for gluten-free bread instead of foccacia or get a gluten-free toasted sandwich – the staff are always happy to oblige. Opening hours, are the same as the Museum, Mon-Sun 10am-5pm.
