Been there a few times, have a large range of gluten free baked products, including muffins, savory scones, cakes and brownies.
The menu is coloured coded with dots, making it easy to see what is gluten free, vegetarian, dairy free etc.
When I am in Taupo I always pop in to get a spinach, feta and sundried tomato gluten free scone - they are absolutely yummy! I can’t recommend them highly enough.

A large cafe overlooking beautiful lake Taupo. Offers gluten free breakfasts, breads, bagels, paninis, chicken and salad wraps, gluten free baskets and salads, also has many vegetarian dishes. They have lovely gluten free cakes and slices also. Very friendly service and nothing a problem to the staff. I often feel like a pain when I ask for gluten free foods but Friend’s Cafe dont mind at all. All of their gluten free products are clearly marked and stand out from the rest.
