Use any type of bread except cheese, crusts included. Great way to use the crumbly bits of gluten free bread, or stale bread. Can be either soy or dairy free depending on whether you use butter or margarine.
Ingredients
225g Bread
275mls milkor milk alternative
50g Butter or dairy free margerine, melted
2T Soft Brown sugar
1 Egg or egg replacer such as “no eggs”
1/2t Nutmeg
1/2C Sultanas
Method
Preheat over to 180c. Tear bread into pieces and place in bowl. Pour the milk over and leave for about 20 minutes to soak. Add the melted butter, sugar, nutmeg, egg and sultanas. Mix well together.
Spread in 1.2-1.5 litre greased baking dish. Bake in oven for about 1hr.
Nice served warm with ice-cream or custard.
