substituting normal flour for gf :)

Can you substitute plain white flour with any particular type/mix of GF flour/s?

Or does anyone know of any good GF puff pastry recipies and/or museli bar recipies?

Hi,
I use the Healtheries brand of baking mix as a substitute for most recipies using white flour.
This seems to work very well.

Like busymumof3 I use Healtheries Baking Mix as well, this is ok to substitute when a recipe calls for up to 2 cups of regular flour. Anything over that and I’ve found it does not work as well, or the taste and/or texture is not great.  Sorry can’t help with the puff pastry and the only muesli bar recipes I know of are really high in sugar and fat so I’ve not attempted to make them.

Hi, in my opinion pastry is a waste of time - I have never had a decent GF pastry in all the 9 years of GF. There is a Bakels pastry mix which is just OK. When I bake I use Bakels or Healtheries GF flour and I often double the butter and the eggs. The mix will always look too wet but seems to be a better texture and moist. In cakes I add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Cakes and baking should be eaten in 2 days max or frozen in individual portions as the become very crumbly, Cheers!
